Sailing, Motorboat Charters

The sight of moored sailboats in the Grand Marais Harbor is completely charming and defines what is so compelling about this place. For sailors, there is the additional thrill of living with this powerful body of water in a most unique way. A charter, though, permits you to take control or sit back, fish, and add sailing to your Grand Marais adventure. So, hop aboard the schooner Hjørdis at North House Folk School for a two-hour sail, offered daily. Or, enroll in one of their many course offerings to become the competent sailor you've always wanted to be. The sunset sails are yet another option, and a spectacular way to experience a gorgeous Grand Marais sky of red. A full moon sail, timed to capture the moonrise over Lake Superior, is the ultimate ending to a perfect day.
