My family and I love the Grand Marais area. We are "regular" visitors. Considered coming for Thanksgiving too late.... ***Visited after the 4th of July last summer and broke my leg while hiking out on Artist's Point.....wet and muddy trail did me no favors! :):):) Still love it! Susan

I love visiting Grand Marais. It is so beautiful and people are friendly. The fishing is great and we always have a good time when we drive up there. It really is a picture wonderland as one travels there from Duluth.

I love Grand Marais. My husband and I celebrated our 25th Anniversary at the Harbor Inn and Restaurant. We have visited with our family several times. What a wonderful community! I wished I lived there.

Came through Gand Marais on our way to the boundary waters. Beautiful drive as well as town. Shoreline looked alot like the east coast. would have enjoyed alittle more time there to explore!

We have visited the Gunflint area many many times since 1998 but never had the occasion to stay in Grand Marais downtown area. This will be our first time to stay in town and we're really looking forward to it! We love the restaurants and shops. See you soon!

My wife & I stayed @ the Shoreline Inn June 10th & 11th & Re-Fell in love with Grand Marais & all it's charms. Lord willing Grand Marais is where we want to live-a photographers/Artist paradise. Hope to be back come October

We will be visiting Grand Marais Memorial Day W/E. We are eager to see the area and participate in sightseeing, hiking, kayaking, and golf.

We haven't been to Grand Marais in two years. Everything appeared just as nice and the Pie Shop has moved downtown! Love the north shore and this pleasant community. Thank you for your hospitality.

We have been back to Grand Marais twice now and look forward to going back again. It is beautiful. Love the donuts and shops and the people are very friendly.

I miss Grand Marais so much! I wish that you guys had a shop we could purchase items from. I'm wearing my Grand Marais, MN sweatshirt right now, but I'm ready for a new one! Lived in Grand Marais for a number of years. We loved it and do miss everyone.However we moved to Florida to escape the harsh winters, but still miss the fishing and the wonderful people.

Yes, Thank You for the GM webpage links and photo's to the boyhood area I visited often while growing up in Duluth. My Grandfather Inar Norgren grew up in Palmers and the Croft's were family friends spoke of often by my Grandmother Esther. I may see Heaven first but, God willing I'll one day drive the North Shore through GM, to see again the harbor only now seen through the Webcam, visit Croftville and then on to fish the Gunflint. How's that for a "bucket" list? Thanks again.

I live north of Grand Marais from May-August. I enjoy the woods and fishing, and this is my favorite vacation every year!

We have been coming to this paradise since 1974. It has changed but it is still the artsy full of life place we have always loved. Camped at Sawbill; stayed at Lutsen and Blue Fin in every season. 2010 back to Blue Fin in May then Gunflint Pines in Oct. Always we visit the Best Donuts,Angry Trout, Trading Post, and just stroll the beauty of this place that owns our heart and soul.

I'm traveling back to GM in May; can't wait! Love, love, love this place!

Spent many years camping on the Gunflint Trail in the 80"s Came back for an anniversary visit and stayed at the Cobblestone Cove Villas which wasn't there before. Loved the 1st class accomodations and the easy access to the whole town.

I love coming to Grand Marais, and try to make it at least twice a year, for shopping, sightseeing, and dining. Also love to come for the fireworks on the 4fh of July. We will see you again soon, as everyone is always happy to see us!

Used to live in the other Bloomington......MN. Love the North Shore and hope to retire there in about five years.

I am in Love with comming up north to GM it a my home away from home as i call it, and me and my husband cant wait to come back up there with are 2 kids in June 2010 cant wait and it cant come fast enough , Everything up there is amazing, the gunflint trail and the views of the lake, to the great food and everybody you meet there is so nice to you, the Antique shops are amazing. great job u guys

My wife went up to Grand Marais with her Grandparents when she was a kid. For our honeymoon we went up and have been coming up ever since. This year was our 3rd straight year coming up. I love the lake and the fall colors not to mention the shops. We both love it up there and wished we had a cabin up there.

We just visited your community last week and stayed with family (Linda and Paul Harvey). Had a real good time and found it extremely relaxing. Enjoyed dinner at the Angry Trout and lunch at the Naniboujou resort. Loved the shopping and just sitting on the peer next to the light house taking in the view of the lake.

Love Grand Marais. Try to come up at least once a year - end of July - August. Nothing better than and early morning, looking over the the harbor with a cup of coffee from Java Moose. Truely one of God's greatest creations!

I love this town. Our family visits each year and we love the area, the people, and the sites. Thanks to Beth Kennedy for putting us up each year at her cabin on Devils Track Lake.

My family is coming up for labor day weekend to relax ,hike and enjoy your beauitiful town before the school year begins. We try to make it to Grand Marais at least once a year. It is without a doubt my favorite vacation destination.

My wife and I were there on our honey-moon 5 years ago, and we are coming back this next week. We enjoyed the shopping, food, and outdoors so much that we wanted to come back :-)

Can't wait to get there! This will be our 3rd trip to Grand Marais with our family of 8. The kids always enjoy a quick dip in Lake Superior, a pizza at Sven & Ole's and browsing through The Trading Post.

Just visited there on July 9th & I have visited your town since I was a kid & I love it.

We have been visiting Grand Marais since we were kids, its always been the highlight on summer. Remember trading post, sven and oles, donut shop, skipping rocks, art fair, and hiking. Summer isn't complete without a trip to the north shore.

We have been canoeing in the BWCA since 1974. Every trip must include a trip to Grand Marais. It is a magical place. We have spent time on Artist's Point in every season and in every kind of weather. Awesome. Go Angry Trout. Go World's Best Donuts.

Spent 2 weeks there last summer, coming back for 3 weeks, starting next week. A fun place, especially enjoyed my time at the Java Moose, and their wireless connection service.

Grand Marais is absolutely wonderful!! We come up every year and stay at the Rec Park. It never gets old!! Sven and Ole's pizza is the best!

My husband, a native Minnesotan, absolutely raves about this place; from what I've seen on this website (which is awesome by the way!), I definitely would like to come for a visit. Hopefully, we will get to do that this fall like we want. Otherwise, it will be 2010 before we get there. I hope I like it as much as I think I will! :)

We started coming to Grand Marais 3 years ago. Just sorry it took us so long to discover this area. Our last trip there just this past week was fabulous. We experienced the raging waves as well as the tranquil lake. The only complaint I had was it was a little too cold for much time on the beach but we did some day trips up the Gunflint Trail and to Grand Portage plus some shopping in town. The last day the weather was perfect and I was sorry that the week was gone so fast.

Can't wait to be there again next week.

Hey, I grew up in Grand Marais, was born in 1961, moved away at age 12 in the summer of 73. My dad was the village clerk for most of that time, Ed Roberts. I have such great memories of growing up there. The weather in Anchorage is similiar to Grand Marais, only diffrerence is the dark/light thing. My extended family had a big reunion there recently, as my grandparents farmed there in the 50's.My roots there go way back...This is a terrific site. Thanks

Have always loved the North Shore. Ever since I was at summer arts colony with Berny Quick. 1958? Since graduating from MCAD I have worked as a designer in theater. Now I'm painting "scenes of the north shore" and have to come back for a shot of the north.

I really miss G.M. We had a cabin on West Bearskin for more than 50 years but had to sell it because it could not be maintained from California. That broke our hearts. Please tell me that World's Famous Donuts is still turning out the world's most famous donuts.

I just love it up there. Come up every year. Sometimes five or six times.

Our first trip to Grand Marais was in the early 90's. We had met Jeff Drew, then an outfitter on the Gunflint Trail, at the Outdoor Sportsmen show in Anaheim, California. Being canoers in this part of the country, and my husband having Minnesota blood, we booked a trip! The experience of being in Grand Marais and that part of the state left an indelible mark in our hearts and spirits. We now long each year for our return summer canoe trip to Minnesota. After Jeff had to relinquish his business on the Gunflint, we ventured to Ely. Although we now spend our time in Ely we make it a point to take a day and drive to Grand Marais, if for nothing else but to enjoy and remember those great summer days in your town. The quiet spirit and uniqueness of Grand Marais is something that you can only feel by being there. The Fisherman's Picnic is a one and only!

I enjoy coming to the Gunflint Trail every year. Gods country! Can't be any place on earth better than this.

We visited Grand Marais in Winter Jan 05 and it was fantastic. It is a beautiful part of the world. The township and its surrounding wilderness, the snow, the lake and the cold are a great experience and very different to what we are use to in Sydney. We talk about Grand Marais regularly and will be back.!

We go to Minnesota every year to a family cabin on Long Lake near Virginia. My wife's family (Suomi) is from Evelyth and three generations of them get together each summer. Actually we would consider relocating moewhere in Minnesota. We were thinking of taking the long way to Ely via the coast to the Gunflint Trail this summer, but who knows. It's a long trip for us (we live 30 miles East of Cleveland, OH on the shore of Lake Erie). Just wanted to say hey from one Great Lake to another! Happy Halloween!!

In 1980 I walked to Grand Marais from Ironwood mi. all by foot. No rides. 28 Years later I returned . Now 50 all of those memories flooded back.You are a special place in my heart Grand Marais. Thankyou 10-6-08

I grew up in MN and have since move to NC. Every summer we would come up to the Grand Marais area and camp. Sooo beautiful! I miss is so much now and wish I could again come and visit.

I Love Grand Marais!!

We took our first ride on the N. Shore Drive the last week in Sept.. We totally enjoyed ourselves! Espically comming from my husband, who does NOT like to drive any length of miles & time! We went the distance to GrandPortage & back to Silver Bay , then on # 1 to Ely & S. on 169 to Virginia, & to Chisholm where our Son & Daughter in law had just moved to. Our son just started as G.Mgr. @ the Arby's in Virginia. While slowly taking our time on # 1, we came upon the "HIGHLIGHT of our road trip! 3 Moose on the side of the road, it was totally awesome : ) 2 Bulls & a Cow. Having just passed a Motor Home which was blocking alot of our view, and creeping along even slower than us. Had we not passed the MH, we probabbly would not have seen the 3 moose together! Or any at all !! Grand Marais is a great place to visit, can't wait to return. Next time " we will " make reservations ahead of time. Could NOT get a room ANYWHERE!! It was booked SOLID from Superior, Duluth,Two Harbors, Beaver Bay, Silver Bay, & all the way to Grand Portage, to Virginis & Chisholm, you could NOT GET A ROOM ! Soooo the next best thing to staying in a Motel,is staying OUTSIDE the Motel, IN YOUR CAR :) We ended up going to the Pamaida store in Silver Bay & buying a Queen size quilt to stay warm in the truck !!! A number of people at the restaurant in Ely told us how LUCKY we were at the sight of 3 Moose. One gentleman told us, that was like winning the lottery !! :)

We have been coming to Grand Marais for three years, in the fall. I LOVE Grand Marais!!! Beautiful city, great restaurants and lovely hikes and scenery. I recommend this destination to everyone.

I made my first trip to Grand Marais with my Mom, Dad and brother in 1975 to visit my aunt and uncle who lived on Gunflint Lake.I have great memories of how beatiful, clean, pristine and peaceful that whole area is. I brought my soon to be wife there in 1996 and she felt the same way when I did when I was a kid. Next year (2009) we plan to bring our son there. I can't wait to share the magic of Grand Marais and Boundry Waters with him!!!

I Lived on the north shore 11 yrs. ago. I miss the people,great place to raise your kids..I want to visit soon. I love the fall.My girls and I call it home still.My x husband moved us out west. If the jobs & housing were better or I won the lottery.I would move back in a FLASH!

Until I visited your town a few years ago, I thought there could be no where as beautiful as Maine. Well, you have proved me wrong. Thank you for your hospitality and your wonderful town.

I spent alot of summers in Grand Marias. We used to camp in the campground in town on Lake Superior. My Aunt and Uncle lived there for many years and my Dad loved to fish. I have so many wonderful memories of Grand Marais. I wish I could make a living there so I could live there. People think I am crazy because of the harsh winters (which I love) and the cool summers but I live close to St. Louis MO. in Illinois and the heat and humidty sucks. I will take the cold weather anytime! My Uncle Roger would take us out skiing on Devils Track Lake. I remember they used to have Air Raid sirens that went off at the beginning of the month I thought that strange since I was from WI. but everyone explained to me that it was because we were so close to the border there. I used to climb on the Granite Rocks that made the break water and try to retrieve Agates out of Lake Superior but our legs would go numb before we could reach them. One time my little brother fell off the boat dock at the campground and about froze his butt off...hahahaha. Another time we were shopping at the Ben Franklin store and my littlest brother got sick all over the place (oh well) embarrassing. My cousin Mike had a job when he was young shooting the sea gulls with a BB gun so they would not get the fish brought in. I could go on and on for days but I guess you had to be there to appreciate it.

Fell in Love with Grand Marais and the North Shore on our honeymoon in 1975. We have returned to refresh our souls almost every year since.

It was an absolutely great and charming site. Liked the audio of wild sounds. I'm making a booklet to take with...something for ourselves and for our son who has autism to familiarize himself with and plan things to do for which he can look forward.

We come up every other year and I love it. The people there are so nice and make you feel like home.

Grand Marais is the best place in the world.

Great trip in June, saw Moose, Black Bear, great fishing. If you want a great burger try the end of the trail cafe, Mushroom Burger, It was well worth the 110 mile road trip from town. Wonderful shopping in Grand Marais very little made in China, more local arts

I was stationed in Grand Marias at the Coast Guard Station from 1979 to 1983, I miss the area and hopefully willl make it back some day

I spent a lovely summer on a Work&Travel programme in Grand Marais. It is a great place with superb nature and very friendly people. I am looking forward yo going again, this time on holiday, maybe next summer.

We have been to Grand Marais several times, mostly in the Fall. Beautiful, peaceful, nice people - wish we lived there! Hope to make a return trip next fall.

I come up every year by myself. I usually stay for 1 week. 14 years ago my bestfriend and I would come and shop the shops and walk along the lakeshore. She has since passed away. I can't think of a better place to celebrate her life and the wonderful times together than in Grand Marais !!!

Grand Marais is the crown jewel of Minnesota. Its majestic grasp is intoxicating to say the least. The sheer panorama would put any mind at ease. The tranquility would thaw the coldest of hearts. Thoreau would have chosen this place and stayed.

My family and I have been to Grand Marais a couple of times over the past decade. We haven't been there since 2005, but are returning this Memorial Day weekend. Unique and beautiful town and area.

We're planning a return visit for this summer. We were there previously in '04 and it was fabulous !

Me and my family have vacationed in Grand Marais for the last 2 years,and plan on visiting again this June2008. I have never been to a place that makes me feel like I'm home. I would love to live there someday! I visit the harbor cam every morning to see the harbor...until I can be there enjoying a Java Moose.

i spent 4 months in grand marais in summer 1996 and had the time of my life! sometimes when i am a little "homesick" after grand marais i check the harbourcam for pictures. i am looking forward to visit this beautiful place sometime in my life, hopefully soon!
