Saturday, June 12
For one day of the year, the streets look as
cool as the water. And your whole family will
enjoy the hot rods, low riders and eleven
different classes of classic cars, trucks and
motorcycles. There’s free public viewing, a
parade and the chance to show off your
wheels. More info.

There is simply
no better way
to kick off summer
than by spending a few extra days in a place
you’ll swear summer was made for. From the
moment the sun stretches out over Lake Superior,
until it slips behind the Sawtooth
Mountains, Grand Marais fills the year’s longest
days with outdoor activities like biking,
hiking, fishing, golf and, if you like, just sitting
and staring out at the beauty of it all. Take in
a shipwreck presentation, a naturalist tour,
and any of the dozens of shops, restaurants
and galleries. Just make sure you take an
extra day or two. Plan your weekend!

Friday-Sunday, June 18-20
North House Folk School
This is the weekend for summer sunshine
and the perfect setting for courses, workshops
and stories of sailors, travelers and
boat builders who set wood to water and
inspire our love of the inland sea. Check
out the Boats-to-Tools Auction, Chowder
Chowdown, Steambent Brunch, outdoor
music and a spectacular solstice pageant
you won’t find anywhere but our harbor.
More info.
