Snow. And go. snow & Trail Report

Winter Tracks
Family Festival

February 25–28

You don’t need to be a winter athlete to enjoy our snowiest season—just head on up the Gunflint Trail! Go sledding, skating or ice fishing. Try broomball, a dog sled ride or the snowmobile poker run. Sign the kids up for the mini-Winter Olympics while you take an “intro-to” session for XC skiing, snowshoeing or another winter specialty. Enjoy the snow sculptures, the bonfires, the community dance and plenty of cold-nose-warm-heart hospitality. More at wintertracks.com.

Snowshoeing the shore

It’s as easy as putting one foot in front of the other—in a huge pair of shoes. But there’s no better way to soak in the scenery and serenity of a north shore winter. Untouched lakes. Secluded pine cathedrals. Panoramic ridges. All on a quiet little jaunt from point A to B. We’ll put you in a pair, and you won’t want to give ‘em back.
