Amazing food! Everyone loved their meals. We had the grilled trout sandwich, beef burger, and fish and chips... all good. Also tried a side of wild rice, and it too was great.

If you want to eat at a fantastic restaurant, this is the place. The dishes they make are sustainable, responsible, Organic, and food conscious, not to mention great. My family has a place in Grand Marais and goes here every chance we get. The price is right for the high quality they provide. I can't recommend this place enough, not to mention the scenery. Scale of 1-10 I give it a 10+

The Crooked Spoon

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

The Crooked Spoon was not our original choice for dinner but was a recommendation from our host at the B&B we stayed at. The food is phenominal!! I am so glad we decided to check it out! I had the Tiger Prawns and my husband had the steak - both were to die for!! If I lived in Grand Marais, I would try to eat there 2-3 times a month - just incredible food!! I will definitely eat here again when I make it back to Grand Marais!!

South of the Border cafe

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

As a child, my parents always brought us here for breakfast. At 22, I still make this my big breakfast meal while camping at the rec park. Not only are the prices great, but the food is WONDERFUL and you are always leaving with a full belly! I've gotten my friends to adore this place as well!

Dock Side

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

This is my favorite place to eat in Grand Marais! I always order the fish and chips. The fries are amazing and the fish is always fresh. Also, the soups are also a great choice as are the fish wraps. It's fast and casual and relativley easy on the wallet.

Hughie's Tacos

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Amazing! My 15 yr old son and I took a trip up to Clearwater Lodge and would run into town for Hughie's! The pork and sauerkraut was fantastic. If I lived closer I could fall in love with the owner! Too bad we live in Ohio. What a great, inexpensive meal with great people. A "must" for any trip up north.

Cook County Whole Foods Co-Op

Delicious deli foods & fresh soups! Favorites: garlic lover's pasta, orzo, roast beef sandwiches, Sicilian gladiator's sandwiches, guacamole, quinoa salads, chorizo & lentil soup, Cerignola olives, a killer chocolate ganache cake! World's Best Donuts

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

I took my Mom on a Fall Leaf tour this Sept 2010. She and Dad (Donut Connoisseur) loved this bakery. After buying just four she made me go back for more. She said, "the cake donuts are very much like my Grandmother (Cora- Duluth MN, 1935) made; fresh and crunchy". How good is that?

Angry Trout

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Fantastico!!!!! I am not a fish person, but this place could turn me around. I have never, never, never had a better fish meal, ever. Whoever the chef is, he or she is to be commended. We had a delicious meal with attentive and friendly service. My only regret, we live too far away to make this a habit.

Blue Water Cafe

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Angry Trout was jammed so we tried the Blue Water Cafe and to my complete surprise I had the best char broiled ribeye ever. Never expected a fine steak like that in a cafe.

Angry Trout Cafe

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

We waited in line for over an hour in October 2009 and were skeptical it would be worth it. It was the best meal I have had, ever, anywhere, USA or abroad. Fantastic, no matter how long the line is, it is worth the wait.

Trail Center

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

I have to be sure to make it up there every winter during the Beargrease. Grab a little sleep in my van and then the Walleye and Egg breakfast. One of the few places I've found that serves fish for breakfast and it sounds like a strange combination, but it's well worth the trip!

Dynomite food and music!

My Sister's Place

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Dyno breakfast!!!!

Hughie's Tacos

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Very good inexpensive food. My only regret is that I wasn't brave enough to try the sauerkraut taco.

The World's Best Donuts

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

My husband is a farmer and something of a donut connoisseur. He definitely thought the name was well deserved. To be honest, I actually dropped one of his two donuts on the floor of the car and he picked it up and ate it anyway because they were so good. Now that's some donut!

The Angry Trout Cafe

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Super awesome food, very relaxing place by the water! Outdoor dining is available. We had the fish and chips, and the fried chicken strips (all meat is humanely raised, which is nearly impossible to find in restaurants!!). Not food related, but the Blue Heron carving on the entrance door is amazing. We are from Arizona, and most definitely will be back!

Sven & Ole's

Hughie's Tacos

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

My boyfriend and I loved it here! The tacos were so fresh and delicious. The staff was really nice and helpful! They told us that the tacos were pretty big- we were thankful for the warning as normally we would order 2 tacos each, but here one taco is more than enough!

Gunflint Tavern

best soups in town!!!

Gun Flint Tavern

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

I love going to visit Grand Marais any time of the year. We try to make it up at least 3 or 4 times. The one place we love to go it the Gun Flint Tavern. It used to be the old bank in town and now were the money used to be kept, now the fridge resides. The old town bowling ally lanes are now the new tables that you sit while looking out at the beautiful harbor of Lake Superior. Its a very earthy place to eat and I love the Pita and Hummus platter. Anyone I know that goes up there, I always tell them to stop in. Absolutely, my favorite place at eat anywhere.

World's Best Doughnuts

YUM!!! This is the word for this place with friendly people who provide yummy food. Try the Voyagers tea! My favorite, oh and the coffee- hmmm, what to choose. The food is good, but don't forget dessert. This is not just a pie place! The pancakes are like no other I have found yet. I can't even duplicate the recipe just to make at home!!! (Believe me, I keep trying.) Scones, homebaked bread, Don't miss The Pie Place. Yum is my word for this place, oh, and don't miss the art work upstairs too!!! You've just got to peek.

Sydney's Frozen Custard

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Don't miss it! They have roof-top dining and home-made waffle cones. Also, the best chocolate ice cream ever, anywhere, hands down!- or custard, whatever you want to call it. These beef hotdogs are the only ones I will eat. Perfect for all ages here. Get your friend a pretty sundae. We spent a good part of our day on the beach out back skipping rocks on Lake Superior. Excellent food! (we had the fresh catch & some sort of steak) Great atmosphere! Guy playing the guitar was a nice touch!

Angry Trout

For lunch you can not beat the smoked trout salad. We meant to try something different each time.. but this one is just too good to pass up. The trout is lightly smoked and excellent - topped with fruit of the season.

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

We enjoyed the sincere friendliness of the staff. Had a hometowny atmosphere. Good prices, great food! I'll be back!

The Crooked Spoon

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

I was very pleased with the children's menu. It was fantastic to see fresh fruit as the "side dish" for the children's meals. The homemade mac and cheese and grilled cheese sandwich were gobbled up by my "picky eating" kiddos.

South of the Border

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Great tasting food and good service at prices that are down to earth. With the high price of fuel who can afford expensive food.

Great fish, just be prepared, the cheapest thing on the dinner menu was 18.95/person

Angry Trout

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

We would give it a YA FER SURE, absolutely, wonderful, terrific. We are from Chicago and have access to some of the best dining in the world and we would place Angry Trout equal to or above almost all of the restaurants here. WE LOVE IT! In fact, it has brought us back to Grand Marais for vacation many times. Thank you ANGRY TROUT! It is seriously one of the finest restaurants!!!!!

Trail Center, Ginflint Trail

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Their pasta dishes are wonderful and the atmosphere, especially at night, is fun for the whole family.

Harbor Light Supper Club

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

My wife and I had an enjoyable dinner celebrating our 10th anniversary this past Friday. We arrived later in the evening so it was kind of quiet, but that was just fine for us. The food was very good, steaks exactly as ordered, fresh salad, great dressing...and a fresh, hot mini-bread loaf...awesome. The service was exceptional! Our server, Suzanne, was such a pleasant person, she made us feel right at home and was fun to chat with. The best part was when the hostess, Christine, brought us complementary Sundae's in honor of our 10th. A very good experience. We look forward to another visit.

Sven & Ole's

We visit Sven & Ole's everytime we stop in Grand Marais. It is usually busy but worth the wait.

Sven & Ole's

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Chez Jude

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Chez Jude is one of my favorite restaurants. The refreshing menu selections, the flavor, the presentation, along with the wine selection is wonderful. I can honestly say they serve some of the best food I have ever had! Because of living in Oregon at this point, I only get to Grand Marais a couple times per year, but you can be sure I will be stopping at Chez Jude while in Grand Marais.

World's Best Donuts

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

I think of this place all winter long. The donuts, whether cake or raised, are the lightest, richest and most delicious I've had (and I'm not a 'cake donut' kind of person). Get there early before they sell out of your favorite!

World's Best Donuts!

Very yummy! The first visit my hubby and I each got one to eat while we walked around the lake. We didn't make it very far before we had to turn back so he could go get another! We visited them every morning during our trip.

World's Best Donuts!

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

My family and I have been coming to Grand Marais for about 14 years, and World's Best Donuts is always one of our first stops:) The donuts are absolutely amazing, and the staff is genuinely considerate, and funny, you actually get to know them year after year, which is quite comforting:) I highly reccomend that you stop here, or you'll be very dissapointed!

Harbor Light

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Fair prices and great food and service, the burgers are wonderful.

Angry Trout

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

This restaurant has the best fresh fish and sides of any place on the North Shore. Come early during tourist season because there are plenty of people who are well aware that the quality of what is served is stellar! it is worth a wait- go do a little shopping and come back if they are full. Also be aware this is a sustainable operation and even though there may be empty tables, they only handle so many people at one time. We try to eat here at least 2 times the week we come up for vacation.

The Pie Place

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Very cute! People are fun. Food was great. Pie was out of this world. A Pleasure all the way around.

Sven and Ole's

Gunfling Tavern

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Highy recomend the Big Bowl! Awesome flavor!

The Crooked Spoon Cafe

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

This resturant is nestled in Down Town Grand Marais, and for the longest time I had never dined there. It was only when I began working there did i realize what a great place it was. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. You get hearty servings of great food for a fairly reasonable price. It has a kids menu and is family friendly, although it is more of a place for couples or large familys to go.

I think this is easily the best resturant in town.

The Pie Place

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

We can't miss this place when we get to Grand Marais. You just got to go there and enjoy.

Gunflint Tavern

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Great food flavor and parings. Nice beer and wine selection. Out of the ordinary good food!

Crooked Spoon

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

You will find hand crafted gourmet dishes at this quaint and cozy downtown restaurant. Daily specials, many times unique, always good! Best meal in town in my opinion!

Blue Water Cafe

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Always trust the locals, they'll never steer you wrong. Prompt service, a strong cup o' joe, good food and hospitable patrons/staff that treat you like family will keep you coming back. Be sure to try the grilled cinnamon roll - thankfully not overwhelmed with a ton of frosting, and the Swedish Pancakes - eggy, thin and crispy. Enjoy, we sure did!

My Sister's Place

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

What a treat on the North Shore whether you are budget-minded, travelling with the family or caught in the throes of wanderlust! Great grub and great prices at this fabulous laid-back joint. Breakfast and main menu feature simple, straightforward fare with a twist. Be sure to enjoy the ambiance, the photos of "The Sisters" and the bumperstickers on the barstools. Free your mind(and your belt), not your wallet!

Birch Terrace Supper Club

Rating: Ya sure

Our first visit during the summer garnered the Saturday Night Prime Rib special - a definite ya sure, you betcha meal. However, our second visit during the winter left something to be desired. No Friday Night Fish special of any kind? Pasta, scallops and key lime cheesecake were up to snuff but please avoid the chopped sirloin - chef had a decidely heavy hand with the seasoning salt(our suggestion: no seasoning whatsoever and let the guest determine their taste at the table).

Sven and Ole's

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Great pizza and atmosphere. And we love the bumper sticker!

Blue Water Cafe

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Friendly staff and great food with reasonable prices.

The Pie Place

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Best eating on the North Shore, maybe Minnesota.

My Sister's Place

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Each year we return to Grand Marais to recharge our souls through the sights, sounds and sweet pleasures of the area. One of our non-negotiable stops is My Sister's Place - a delightfully eclectic eatery filled with sassy edged historic memorabilia. The menu is filled with delectable, no-nonsense pub food for people who know what they like. Not being a vegetarian but unable to resist a good portabello burger, I ordered my usual - The Fungi. It did not disappoint with it's grilled to perfection flavor and spicy horseradish sauce. The fries on the side were hot and finger lickin' good. Wash it all down with a cold beverage of choice and you are good to go for another scenic hike down the road. You know you've found a good place when the clientele is a spicy mix of locals and people on the move and the service is smooth, efficient and friendly. This place is a you betcha for sure.

Angry Trout Cafe

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

They were right! Get a porch table, relax, and enjoy. All meals were unique, attractive, & tasty. Go for the pie, but enjoy a meal first. Then take home a whole pie!

I have seen several sven and oles bumper stickers here in the twin cities. So when I decided to come to the BWCA for the first time last summer I decided to get some pizza on our way through grand marais. It happened to be the best pizza I have ever tasted. In fact, it was so good, I decided to drive 270 miles up to grand marais and 270 miles back just for the pizza in the middle of winter because I knew I wouldn''t be able to wait until the next BWCA excursion in the summer. Plus I was able to see Grand Marais in the winter, without all the tourists, to see what the harbor town life was really like.

The Pie Place

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

Mpls St Paul Mag said "Best pie on the planet" & "easily the best breakfast in town." They were right! Get a porch table, relax, and enjoy. All meals were unique, attractive, & tasty. Go for the pie, but enjoy a meal first. Then take home a whole pie! Yum, yum, good!

My meal was delicious. I had the pecan walleye and it was probably the best meal I have had in a long time. The whole family agreed. It was not a huge portion but filling. I would definitely go back!

The Crooked Spoon

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

The food is unbelievably good!!  I ordered the tenderloin with goat cheese risotto.  My wife ordered zuchinni/pear bisque soup and a salad with fresh organic vegetables and herbs.  The price was so reasonable we had to tell the management we couldn't believe it.  Nowhere could we get such a fresh and unusual array of greens like that!  We are going to eat there again before we leave!

The Crooked Spoon

Rating: Ya sure you betcha

This cuisine is so unusual and outstanding you can only go there to discover what that chef/owner will be up to next!  The service and atmosphere were excellent, but the food is so good and the portions so generous, I can truthfully say it is one of the top places I have eaten in all my travels of 56 years!

We come up to the area 2-3 times a year and we never miss (unless they are closed) this place.  With a great atmosphere, and family friendly - it's one of our favorite spots to eat.  Breakfast, Lunch or Supper - you can't go wrong.  We've never had a bad meal over many years........it's always  a treat.  There are too many favorites to list from the menu - but the HUGE pancake is a must to try - see if you can eat it all :)

We love My Sisters Place. The Food is awesome. The atmosphere is inviting and comfortable. We tell everyone to go there if they want great burgers and soup. We will keep coming back for more
